FinCEN Names Edward J. Dorris as Chief Information Officer and Associate Director for Information and Technology

Robert W. Werner, Director of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), announced today the selection of Edward J. Dorris as Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the Associate Director of FinCEN's Information and Technology Division. Mr. Dorris will oversee the technical infrastructure that supports the management of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) data at FinCEN.

Mr. Dorris has more than 25 years of information technology experience in both the public and the private sector. He has worked in the areas of IT program management, enterprise architecture, systems integration, capital planning and execution. He currently serves as the Deputy CIO for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). While at HUD, he lead the Department's business transformation and IT modernization initiatives and aligned technology with strategic business objectives. He has also worked on significant information technology projects at the Department of Transportation and the Department of the Treasury.

"Mr. Dorris will bring to his work at FinCEN an excellent combination of technical expertise, people skills, and extensive organizational management experience," Director Werner said. "I am very pleased that Mr. Dorris will lead FinCEN's Information and Technology Division in its efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing."

Mr. Dorris obtained his bachelor's degree in General Studies from American University. He will begin his duties at FinCEN in early October.
