September 2024 Beneficial Ownership Reporting Outreach Activities

Immediate Release

Over the past year, FinCEN has directly reached small businesses and other key stakeholder groups through hundreds of beneficial ownership events and other engagements—including conferences, webinars, roundtables, and informational sessions—in partnership with Secretaries of State, industry groups, Members of Congress, corporate service providers, Chambers of Commerce, government agencies, and other organizations.

In September 2024, FinCEN participated in the following events to discuss the importance of corporate transparency to safeguarding the U.S. financial system, answer questions from the public regarding beneficial ownership reporting requirements, and highlight that filing with FinCEN is quick, free, and secure.

  • Small Business Expo in Los Angeles, CA
    On September 5, FinCEN engaged with more than a thousand attendees at the Small Business Expo in Los Angeles, CA. As part of the event, FinCEN held a workshop on beneficial ownership reporting. A list of upcoming Small Business Expos FinCEN will attend is at the end of this note.
     
  • Beneficial Ownership Outreach Engagement with Mississippi Bankers Association in Washington, D.C.
    On September 9, FinCEN staff met with a delegation of bankers from Mississippi to provide an update on beneficial ownership implementation efforts and answer questions.
     
  • America's Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Conference in Atlanta, GA
    On September 10 and 11, FinCEN staff engaged with attendees at the SBDC Conference in Atlanta, GA, an annual conference for entrepreneurs, and small business owners.
     
  • Beneficial Ownership Outreach Engagement with Arkansas Bankers Association in Washington, D.C.
    On September 10, FinCEN staff met with a delegation of bankers from Arkansas to provide an update on beneficial ownership implementation efforts and answer questions.
     
  • Beneficial Ownership Info Session in Partnership with the U.S. Department of Commerce Export Assistance Center in San Diego, CA
    On September 11, a FinCEN representative met with officials from the U.S. Department of Commerce Export Assistance Center to provide an overview of beneficial ownership reporting requirements and discuss future engagement opportunities.
     
  • Beneficial Ownership Info Session at IRS Nationwide Tax Forum in San Diego, CA
    On September 11, FinCEN staff participated in a fireside chat on beneficial ownership with an audience of hundreds of tax professionals at the IRS Nationwide Tax Forum in San Diego, CA.
     
  • 2024 Regional Contracting Forum in Seattle, WA
    On September 12, FinCEN engaged with more than a hundred attendees at the 2024 Regional Contracting Forum in Seattle, WA, including entrepreneurs, public procurement buyers, elected public officials, capital project managers, equity and social justice practitioners, business owners, and other stakeholders.
     
  • 2024 National Public Records Research Association in Providence, RI
    On September 13, FinCEN engaged with hundreds of attendees at the 2024 NPRRA Conference in Providence, RI.
     
  • Beneficial Ownership Outreach Event with the Office of Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon (D-PA) in Philadelphia, PA
    On September 16, FinCEN Director Andrea Gacki co-hosted a beneficial ownership outreach event with the office of Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon (D-PA). This event was part of a series of senior Treasury officials’ travel, in partnership with Members of Congress, to help small businesses across America fulfill their reporting requirements.   • Beneficial Ownership Outreach Engagement with Missouri Bankers Association in Washington, D.C.
    On September 17, FinCEN staff met with a delegation of bankers from Missouri to provide an update on beneficial ownership information implementation efforts and answer questions.
     
  • Beneficial Ownership Info Session with IRS Stakeholder Liaison office (virtual)
    On September 19, FinCEN staff provided an informational webinar to a group of accounting and tax professionals in South Carolina.
     
  • Small Business Summit in Winchester, VA
    On September 24, FinCEN partnered with Shenandoah University with hundreds of small and veteran-owned businesses at the Small Business Summit in Winchester, VA. The event was organized by the Treasury Department’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization.
     
  • Beneficial Ownership Outreach Engagements with Idaho, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Washington Bankers Association in Washington, D.C.
    On September 24, FinCEN staff met with a delegation of bankers from Idaho, Oregon, and Washington to provide an update on beneficial ownership information implementation efforts and answer questions. In a separate meeting on the same day, FinCEN staff met with a delegation of Oklahoma bankers.
     
  • FinCEN Quarterly Information Session on Beneficial Ownership Webinar (virtual)
    On September 25, FinCEN hosted its quarterly webinar on beneficial ownership reporting, which currently has approximately 10,000 views.
